From Russia with love!

Usually New Year is celebrated 10 days in Russia. 6 years ago a new law was accepted and now the most of Russians don’t know what to do for so long time. That’s why they are very glad to go to work. Lucky guys!
That’s good if you have a chance to go away. It’s like a little vacation.
My friend Mary had that chance. Her friends have been living in the USA for about six month and invited her to celebrate New Year. She told me about her long week-end: “I flew in the USA before that terrible transport collapse. I’m a lucky girl I think. My friends live in a little town Elmhurst, Illinois. It’s situated near Chicago, the city of my dreams, so I wanted to see it. I don’t know why I like it. Maybe because of gangster’s stories that I heard in my childhood.
We celebrated New Year’s Day at friend’s home in a good company. I really love this holiday, it reminds me of my beautiful childhood, with the decorated tree, long-awaited presents and a big family around the table. Good and happy time!
The next day, at 1st of January, we went to Chicago. My friends didn’t have such long holidays, that’s why they agreed to be with me in Chicago only on the week-end. I wasn’t upset and believed that I would spend my vacation very fun even if I was alone.

I had an unexpected problem this year. Usually I make shopping with my husband and my daughter. My husband is a very good driver and I have never heard about problems with parking. But this time he had to work. He couldn’t help me, that’s why me and my daughter should do it by ourselves.

Nothing to watch in LA? Look better!

So, my first trip to the USA – the land of stereotypes – started on the 2nd of December. We flew to Los Angeles!
I made a conclusion from many stories, that LA is a very boring city which you can look for two days.
I want to tell you that we have 5 days and that was not enough for us.
We orientated well thanks to Phone2LosAngeles, a new free iPhone app. We downloaded it before our trip because this app promised us to find anything and not to get lost in LA. And you know that was real information. We tried it everywhere we wanted and it worked!
At first day we went to see outskirts. Many cafes, restaurants, beautiful Christmas shop windows, illumination – very beautiful! And of course there are many different Christmas trees. That was a great place for good photos.
But I think that Santa-Monica is more beautiful place. I like a big clean beach and the ocean…Also I liked a thematic bar Bubba Gump. We took pictures and then went to the CityWalk near studio. We were very tired but very happy.
The last day was the most interesting for me. We were in the Six Flags Magic Mountain. This is a great park. I can’t express my emotions. It was real adrenalin!!!

By the nature of work, I often have to go on business trips.

A week ago I visited Boston for the first time. This was my first trip to Boston alone and frankly speaking I was a bit worried. Boston is not the easiest place to get around, especially when you didn’t have time to organize your trip well. I got my first iPhone on my birthday. I was happy, because I heard many positive references about this device. I had a dream and now it’s true – I have an iPhone! But soon I got a problem. I got accustomed to use a simple phone. I only called and sent messages with it. That’s all, nothing more. But in my mind it’s wrong – to have an iPhone and not to use all its possibilities.
I know it’s strange and sometimes stupid, but there are a lot of people with the same problems. They buy iPhones because it’s fashionable. But they don’t know how to use it. They can boast about it among their classmates or friends, but if they ask:”What can your iPhone do?” – There is a long pause in the talk.
So, I got a problem and decided to solve it. Because I didn’t want to look like a stupid girl among my friends.
I was on some forums and I saw after several consultations that my iPhone can do all! Really can. It takes the place of computers, so I can use Internet due to my iPhone. But it’s not all.
Other users told me that I can download a lot of applications on my iPhone, which will make my life easier, than it was. There are some apps, that can identify my location, so if I get lost somewhere in Texas (where my friends to whom I will go for a week-end, live), my application will show me my location and the nearby. Other applications can find needed objects. So if I want to find a hotel or a restaurant in Texas or somewhere in the USA – I don’t need to use the Internet.

I don’t like loneliness and prefer to be with my friends in a big company, so I decided to plan our week-end by myself.

That was a difficult task, but I did it. One new iPhone application helped me. It’s Phone2Anything. I decided to test it. I wanted to know if the advertisement that promised to make my life easier, was true. At first I chose a beautiful place. Then my app found it on the map and I sent it to my friends on Facebook. So they could find that place even if they live far from each other.



Then I wanted to know, in which supermarket I can buy anything we need for our holiday. One guy, who lives next to me, gave me advice in the Community Discussion section on the app. He recommended a good supermarket. And another guy had a good and safety rest in the same place and shared it in Phone2Anything iPhone app.

So, thanks to this iPhone app I organized a great week-end for me and my friends.
One thing that I have to do is to put our photos on Facebook.

How I got lucky one day

Have you ever driven down the route 66? Strange question, I know. And I know your answer. Of course you have. Every self-respecting American must have gone by “the Mother” road at once.
And have you ever encountered with some problems during your journey? The route is too long and empty somewhere – so you can get into trouble.
As for me, I didn’t look for problems, I didn’t need them. I rode to my parents. I just wanted to say happy birthday to my mother and give her a present. I see them seldom. Unfortunately, my business takes much time.

So I drove down the Route 66 between Kingman and Hackberry when my car ran out of gas. I don’t know why I didn’t take care about it beforehand. I wanted to see my family and forgot about this trifle…But now my car failed in an empty place. There was only a big field around me and a long road in front. And there are no people…
If that situation happened about 6 month ago, I would be in panic. Seriously, I didn’t know what to do. Sit in my car and wait for somebody to pass by? Senseless. Leave my car and go to find a gas station? But I didn’t know, where I should go, I had no map. You may ask me, why I didn’t call. And where? To whom? There are no such phone numbers in my cell phone. Are they in yours? I’m not sure.

But I was lucky that day. Do you know why? Because 2 weeks ago I downloaded a new iPhone application. It’s Phone2Anything. I know what you say. There are a lot of applications. But this app is special. At first, it determined my location, so I didn’t need a map. I’ve been searching for gas stations and Phone2Anything found them. There were phone numbers, I called without yellow pages. A wrecker arrived and got my car on the gas station – and that was all!

In two hours I embraced my parents and congratulated my mother.
I don’t want to imagine, what I would do without Phone2Anything. It’s a great app for people, who had lost or got into trouble.

But who we should ask? People in the streets? I don’t believe they know all answers.
